CODE OF CONDUCT

Just Gymnastics is a member of British Gymnastics – membership number 90319.

Just Gymnastics abides by the British Gymnastics Health, Safety and Welfare Policy for Coaches and Clubs.  It recognises it has a duty of care towards its members and is committed to providing the appropriate support and guidance to its members to ensure these matters are addressed.

It follows the British Gymnastics Equity Policy which advocates that the coach must always comply with the principles of good, moral and ethical frameworks and exemplary standards of conduct.

Just Gymnastics Code of Conduct

Members

  • Must respect all coaches, gymnasts, members and their decisions. 

  • Must wear suitable clothing e.g leotard, shorts, leggings, t shirt.

  • Must arrive on time and keep to agreed timings.

  • Must make sure hair is tied up and all jewellery is removed.

  • Must treat all apparatus and equipment with respect.

  • Must treat other members' items with respect.

  • Must not eat during their session unless it is a snack break. (only for those who train for 2+ hours)

  • Must not leave the gym without your responsible adult.

  • Ask to go to the toilet and to get a drink.

  • Do not use the apparatus without your coach.

  • Tell your coach if you are injured or feel unwell.

  • Must not use bad language.

  • No socks. (Except grippy socks if agreed with coach & parent)

  • Advanced Gymnasts must not wear jumpers when training, only leotards & t-shirts for boys.

Parents & Guardians

  • Encourage your child to learn and follow their Code of Conduct & Just Gymnastics Golden Rules.

  • Any child having had sickness or diarrhoea should refrain from training for 48 hours.

  • Discourage challenges or arguing with officials. 

  • Parents should speak with the Coach in Charge if they are concerned about any coaching/development matter.

  • Help your child to recognise good sportsmanship & performance.

  • Never force your child to take part in sport.

  • Always ensure your child is dressed appropriately and has a drink which should be left with their shoes. 

  • Make sure your child has British Gymnastics Insurance. 

  • Please arrive on time & collect your child on time. (We may have to charge a late fee if you are more than 15 minutes late.)

  • Make sure your child is not wearing any jewellery.

  • Make sure your child goes home with everything they brought to gymnastics. 

  • Please wait outside when dropping off/collecting your child, gymnasts will not be allowed to leave until we have seen their collecting adult - parent/guardian.  (Unless they need help, however, our junior coaches will be there to help.)

  • Please do not take pictures or videos of your child - if you would like to take any please ask the coaches and we can arrange this for you. 

  • Do not open the door for any other parents, this is for safeguarding and security reasons - the door will be unlocked 10 minutes before and 15 minutes into your session. 

  • We encourage all parents to not stay during the sessions, we find this causes a distraction to all gymnasts and it also makes our entrance hall crowded. 

  • No inappropriate or foul language on our premises.

  • Please be mindful of our neighbours when parking - DO NOT block their driveways.

  • No rude or inappropriate comments to any coaches/members.

  • Please always use a respectful tone & manner when speaking to coaches/members. 

DATA POLICY

Your privacy is very important to Just Gymnastics, we want all members to have a clear understanding of how we use your personal information. We will ensure that all your data is kept secure and only used for the purpose outlined in this notice.

Information we collect about you when joining our club; 2 emergency contact names and numbers, email address and child’s name and date of birth. We collect this data when joining the club on our Health Form. Emergency phone numbers are saved in Just Gymnastics Mobile Phone. The necessary health forms are brought weekly to each class and are stored away during the evenings in a locked safe.

If members do not attend classes for at least 2 months Just Gymnastics will remove all details from the mobile phone and will destroy medical/emergency contact form.

WELFARE OFFICER

All British Gymnastics clubs are required to have a Welfare Officer to be responsible for -

  • Responding to child protection & poor practice concerns.

  • Providing support and advice in the implementation of procedures that safeguard and promote the welfare of children in Gymnastics.

Just Gymnastics Welfare Officer is Tina Ramsey and the point of contact for members, coaches and parents who have any concerns about safeguarding in our club.

SAFEGUARDING POLICY

JUST GYMNASTICS is committed to ensuring that those working with children at our club adopt the best possible practice to ensure health, safety and welfare of gymnasts and coaches. Just Gymnastics will endeavour to promote the highest standards of care to all members, staff and officials by:

  • Using & adhering to British Gymnastics health, safety and welfare guidelines.

  • Using & adhering to British Gymnastics guidelines for the protection of vulnerable children & adults.

  • The appointment of a Welfare Officer to whom concerns or complaints can be made in confidentiality. Contact Helen Humphreys - hjhumphreys@aol.com

  • Ensuring that all coaches have 2 suitable references (not family members) 

 from previous employees, teachers or other officials (e.g Guide Leader).

  • Ensuring that all coaches/staff have been DBS checked and hold a relevant Safeguarding Qualification.

  • Ensuring that all staff follow our code of conduct. 

  • Ensuring that any complaints or concerns are dealt with promptly and in accordance with our procedures. 

  • Ensuring that there are a minimum of 2 responsible adults at all times in the gym.

  • Ensuring that all members have read and understood our policy with videoing & photography for social media and have all signed the Photo Form on Class For Kids. 

  • Having a zero tolerance policy for poor practice, bullying and any other form of abuse. 

COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE

Just Gymnastics is dedicated to providing an all round excellent service and maintaining healthy relationship with gymnasts, parents and all those involved in the club. 

As a customer of ours, you are entitled to make a complaint to us. If you do wish to make a complaint please read through the information below-

All verbal complaints should be made to Just Gymnastics Head Coach/Manager, Millie Jones. 

Coaches are unable to deal with verbal and written complaints.

All written complaints need to be made via email to millie@justgymnastics.co.uk

Both verbal and written complaints will be thoroughly investigated by our team of Head Coaches.

We aim to resolve your complaint within 5 days of receipt. 

Just Gymnastics Welfare Officer Tina Ramsey will also be made aware of any complaints.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • All classes & trials must be paid for in advance using our online System Class for Kids. 

  • Term Time classes will have a booking fee of £5 every term. 

  • All classes are booked and paid for termly.

  • Refunds can not be given, once payment has been received your child's place has been booked for a full term. 

  • If we have to close due the weather, COVID or any other circumstances out of our control we will credit the money to another session. 

  • If payment has not been received before the new term, we will assume your child is no longer attending.

  • Any information given to Just Gymnastics will be assumed to be true & accurate. All information will be kept secure following GDPR and will be disposed of correctly if no longer needed. 

  • It is the parents/guardians responsibility to inform us of any illnesses, medical conditions and injuries likely to impede a child’s safety or participate. 

  • Parents are requested not to use any form of photography or video device to capture whilst children are participating.
